Start with a working rectangle
Clear the area you need for a keyboard, notebook or the task you do most. Keep that patch of space as the starting point. Put the items used every day within reach and move occasional supplies away from the center. You may discover that rearranging what you own solves more than adding another desktop accessory.
Follow the cables
Notice which cables need to move and which can stay in place. Before choosing holders or storage, check cable diameter, connection access and the surface they attach to. Read the removal instructions for adhesive products, especially on finished furniture. A tidy photograph does not tell you whether a particular organizer works with your desk.
Leave a place for the interruption
A cup, incoming papers or a charging phone needs somewhere to go without covering the work. Build that space into the arrangement rather than filling the last empty corner. Choose accessories only for the gaps you can name. The goal is a desk that is easy to return to, with enough room to do something, not a collection of perfectly matched objects.
