Empty it before replacing it
Lay out what you actually carry: payment cards, identification, receipts and anything used only occasionally. Keep the daily essentials together and decide what can stay at home. This gives you a realistic capacity target. A slim wallet is not an improvement if you immediately have to carry a second pouch for everything it cannot hold.
Choose where it will go
A pocket, a small bag and a phone-mounted wallet place different demands on size and attachment. Check the dimensions and stated card capacity. For magnetic accessories, confirm both the phone or case compatibility and the merchant's attachment instructions. Do not infer a stronger hold, secure lock or tracking feature from the shape alone.
Account for the exceptions
Think about days when you need cash, a transit card or a physical ticket. A compact everyday setup can still have a separate plan for travel. Look for official views of the opening and card access, rather than judging only the front photograph. Choose the version that matches what you reach for most often, not the version that promises to carry an entire life.
